Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (Ps. 107:1)
Each November, our hearts our filled with thanksgiving for our blessings. My new puppy, Charlie, is at the top of the list of things I’m grateful for this year. My sister-in-law believes that animals come into our lives the moment we need them most, and I agree because that was the case with both Lilly, my Yorkie, and now Charlie. Charlie needed a home, and I needed companionship. He and his big personality have filled my life in ways I never imagined.
Taking care of Charlie has created a routine to my days that has been missing since Lilly passed away in March. My days revolve around Charlie’s schedule more than my own. Each day is filled with the ebbs and flows of puppy playtime, puppy naptime, and puppy feeding time.
Charlie gets up early, and after a quick trip outside, he’s ready to play. He tosses his toys around while I do my Bible study, then we walk about a mile. After breakfast, he naps while I get ready for work. He joins me in my office and continues to nap while I work. At lunchtime, he’s ready to eat and play some more.
Charlie is a happy, loving puppy, full of exuberance and energy. I’m thankful for him and looking forward to all the adventures we’ll have together.
Dear Jesus, thank you for Charlie and the joy he brings to my life. Thank you that his routine helps structure my days. Help me take good care of him. Amen.
I agree wit your SIL. Our new furbaby Rascal has helped ease the pain of the lose of Chewy. He is a rescue & needed a fur ever home before his time ran out at a pound & we needed a companion for Chewy’s brother. We also had a void & needed to give another one the joy of being loved . He has brought so much love & healing to me & so much more. I still cry every day & miss Chewy but I look at Rascal & know that Chewy is pleased that we opened our home & our hearts.
I needed this post.
