“But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” (Job 12:7-10)
Hi, friends! Lilly Doggins here. Summer’s in full swing, and my mom and I are having some great adventures together. Riding in the car is one of my favorite things, especially during the day when I can see outside. Mom takes me to the post office and the library when she doesn’t have to get out of the car and we can stay inside where it’s nice and cool.
We took a longer drive several times to see my grandpawrents. Grandpaw worked in the yard while I supervised. He says I’m the best supervisor! I bark at all the cats and all the bugs, too. When I get tired, I go back inside with Grandpaw, and Grandmaw raises the end of her recliner so that I can sit with her.
The worst part of the summer, friends, was that mom took me to the V-E-T. (Mom thinks I can’t spell, but I know what those letters mean!) She actually took me twice. The indignity! We went once for my regular checkup. The workers at the vet’s office are always nice to me, but I really don’t like that place. The other dogs made such a commotion. How rude! I don’t act like that in public. Well, I guess I do act that way when we walk. But I have to protect Mom from the other people! Anyway, the nice lady called my name, and Mom carried me to a little room and put me on a cold, metal table. I stood right at the edge, but Mom watched me so I couldn’t jump and make my escape. Foiled again! Then, the vet gave Mom some allergy drops to put in my eyes. Those eye drops are from the enemy! But at least I get a treat every time I have to have them.
And then Mom took me to my old vet not even two weeks later. The horror! We took a drive to see my grandpawrents, and I got sick in the car. I have a sensitive stomach, and something just didn’t agree with me that day. The vet gave me a shot that stung like the dickens and told Mom to give me a new prescription food. It’s yummy, too! Mom said I scared her pretty good, but I’ve felt like a young pupper ever since!
Stay tuned, friends! Summer isn’t over yet, and we have more adventures planned. What adventures are you taking this summer? Do you have any suggestions for me and Mom?
Dear Jesus, thank you for allowing me the privilege of caring for Lilly and all the adventures we have together. Thank you for the lessons I’m learning through her. Amen.
Thanks Lily for sharing your adventures. Hope you are feeling better. Scruffy & Chewy are dealing with eye allergies too
Thank you! I’m feeling much better now. Ruff! 🙂
