6th Annual Super Stocking Stuffer Giveaway Hop

Congratulations to Annette E. from Peoria, AZ, the winner of the blog hop giveaway!

Stocking stuffers have long been a tradition in my family. On Christmas morning, my brother and I would run into the living room to find what Santa had left under the tree. Then, we would turn to our stockings. From toothbrushes to candy to socks to books to gift cards, we always found a treasure trove of goodies. This tradition still continues in adulthood as my parents find fun items to put in our stockings.

This Christmas season, I’m joining The Kids Did It blog and The Mommy Island blog to participate in the Sixth Annual Super Stocking Stuffer Giveaway Hop, which runs from November 10, 2020, to December 1, 2020. The winner will receive a signed copy of Echoes of Joy: A Daily Devotional for Christmas and a $15 Amazon gift card.

Giving Thanks for the Small Things

This post was originally published on November 5, 2017.

I glanced down as a flash of hot pink caught my eye. A lone periwinkle poked its head through the crack in the sidewalk and flourished for all to see. I stopped watering and stared in amazement. Continue reading “Giving Thanks for the Small Things”

Giving Thanks for Fall

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess 5:18)

Fall has long been my favorite season. As a child, I looked forward to the first day of school when I would see my friends again. The sport I enjoyed most—basketball—started in the fall.

When I was diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder as an adult, I dreaded fall because it meant I was that much closer to winter, when the worst of my symptoms would hit. Continue reading “Giving Thanks for Fall”

Freedom from Fear

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Gal 5:1)

As we celebrate Independence Day here in the US, I’m reminded of my own journey to independence. A week after I turned eighteen, I attended my first day of college. I longed for independence, but I was afraid of it too—of the responsibility and all the unknowns. Continue reading “Freedom from Fear”

A Father’s Love

The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him. (Prov 20:7 NKJV)

When I was a teenager, my dad and I didn’t always get along. Our disagreements were the  typical father/teenage daughter variety. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned something—we’re more alike than we are different. Not only do we look alike, but we think alike and sometimes even act alike. Continue reading “A Father’s Love”
