Can you believe it’s less than two weeks till Christmas? Before we know it, the clock will strike midnight, and 2022 will be upon us. Are you ready?
One of my favorite things to do at Christmastime is drive around and look at the lights. From city parks to downtown Oklahoma City to local neighborhoods, I like to explore and see them all.
The twinkling lights at Christmas remind me of Jesus’s words:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Mt. 5:14–16 NIV)
We are to spread the light of Jesus throughout our dark world. While good deeds won’t save us, they will point others to the One who will. Good deeds can be big gestures, but more often, they are small things that go unnoticed by anyone except the recipient—a kind word to a stressed store clerk, a compliment to the stranger standing next to you in line, or timely text to check on a friend.
We can all do something this Christmas to share God’s love. What will you do?
