Promise Keeper

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Josh 1:9)

Lilly has been my furry, faithful companion for over eight years now. She trusts me completely – to feed her, to water her, to walk her, to play with her. I see it in her eyes when she rolls over to ask for a belly rub and when she runs to greet me as I walk in the door, dancing excitedly on her hind legs as she tries to lick my fingers. She never hesitates to bark for a treat or a trip outside because she knows that her wish will be granted. When we sit in my recliner, she will burrow her head under my hand so that I will pet her and give her the attention she deserves. Continue reading “Promise Keeper”

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor…” (Ecc 4:9)

Folks from the community arrived in pairs – married couples, friends, mother and daughter. People placed their wares on the counter: sandwiches, pizza, fruit, cakes, cookies. The array of food seemed endless. Groups naturally formed, with some talking about the day’s events and others already getting down to the serious business that had brought them together on this night: card games. Time to Rest and Recharge

“Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’” (Mk 6:31)

On a recent drive home from visiting my parents, I thought of around five blog post ideas in the span of an hour and half. Because I couldn’t write them down, I dictated them into my phone to transcribe later. Once one idea formed, the rest flowed quickly – so quickly, I felt I almost couldn’t keep up. Rain Rain Go Away! Giveaway Blog Hop

Spring is a time of renewal, when everything is bright and fresh. Trees begin to bud, perennials push their colorful heads out of the ground, and the grass turns from a dry, course yellow to a soft, vibrant green. Spring is the rainy season in many parts of the world, and we are no exception here in Oklahoma. Our rainy season often consists of storms, with mighty strikes of lightening, rolling thunder, and the occasional tornado. But without rain, none of the growth of spring would happen.

To celebrate the advent of spring, I’m joining The Kids Did It blog and The Mommy Island blog to participate in the 3rd Annual Rain Rain Go Away! Giveaway Event, which runs from April 10, 2018, to April 24, 2018. The winner of this giveaway will receive a $15 Amazon gift card.  Continue reading “Rain Rain Go Away! Giveaway Blog Hop”

The Hope of Easter

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” (Mt 28:6)

Each year, I shop for a new Easter dress, knowing that the weather will probably be too cold to wear it without a sweater, especially if the dress is sleeveless. It seems we almost always have one last cold snap here in Oklahoma over Easter weekend. But I enjoy wearing dresses, and Easter provides the perfect opportunity to buy a new one as new, fresh styles become available for the spring and summer seasons. Continue reading “The Hope of Easter”
